Eric D. Townsend is a Partner and the Department Chair of the Fire and Flood Division. When insurance takes advantage homeowners and businesses Eric handles the breach of contract and insurance bad faith claims on their behalf. He helps his clients understand their rights and benefits due under the policy, and zealously advocates on their behalf to obtain a full recovery. For example, one client was originally offered $85,000 as a final settlement by insurance, and Eric was able to recover over $280,000. Another client was offered $18,000 as a final settlement, and Eric was able to obtain over $75,000. These are only a few examples of the numerous recoveries he has obtained on behalf of our clients.
After receiving his B.S. degree from San Diego State University, Eric received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. Prior to his formal education, Eric served in the United States Marine Corps and is a Marine. In law school, he wrote his thesis paper on banking regulation regarding the mortgage meltdown and created the term “speculative debt”. He worked for the University of San Diego Environmental Law Clinic, where he received the Professor Robert & Dolores Simmons award for Outstanding Environmental Clinic Intern. In the Marines, and through his career in the private sector, he has received numerous awards and honors and was quickly promoted.
Eric regularly speaks at the San Diego Association of Realtors and at numerous events for the restoration industry. He is a member of the California Bar Association, San Diego County Bar Association and is a member of the Insurance / Bad Faith Law Section, and is admitted to practice in the California Federal District Courts.
